Dear Friend,
 On A Personal Note...
Happy Happy New Year! Can you even believe it is 2005?! It seems like only
yesterday we were partying like it was 1999. Time just flies, doesn't it? I
hope you and yours had a healthy, happy and safe holiday and of coarse I wish
you a bountiful New Year!
I have made some resolutions this year that I am excited about. I've decided
that I’m not giving up anything this year. Instead, I am giving back. I am
nurturing something very important... my spirit! "20/20" is the
catchy name I've dubbed my resolution and I hope many of you will think about
adopting 20/20 for yourself.
I've decided to set aside (at a minimum) 20 minutes a day to do something just
for me; something that makes me happy and doesn't fall under the category of
work or routine. This might sound trite, but I have discovered that many of us,
me included, can go an entire day without recognizing our own needs or simply
stop to have fun. We all have a tendency to get lost in the needs and wants of
others which can sometimes weaken our own spirit. So far, I am lovin' my twenty
minutes. I actually seem to get more done and can stay more focused when I know
there is time scheduled for me to play just a bit.
The other 20 of my "20/20" resolution is my super favorite! I
actually practiced this many years ago and have decided to pick it back up this
year. I am allowing myself $20 a week mad money! My own tiny stash for a kicky,
no guilt purchase. The bargain hunt for my weekly indulgence can be so
thrilling. Sometimes I find something right away and sometimes I save up a
couple of weeks if I'm really busy. The point is to allow yourself the freedom
to shop and play guilt-free! I find this freedom nourishes my creativity and
sharpens my shopping skills.
I encourage you to try "20/20" this year or perhaps your own version
of daily/weekly special time. Let's all resolve to be better to ourselves this
coming year.

Sale Rack
Oh good golly... the sales!
January is one of the best months of the year to shop; the others are August
and September. End of the year clearances are everywhere. The merchandise has
got to go, so if you received a gift card for the Holidays, now is the perfect
time to use it. (Side note: Be sure to check and see
if your gift card has an expiration date! Many of them now do.)
Look for these items on the clearance rack at super deep discounts:

Winter coats, wraps, scarves, hats and gloves.

Anything Christmas red, like sweaters, jackets, pajamas, etc. They will look
great for Valentines Day!

Fun festive dresses that will look smashing for all those upcoming weddings,
engagement parties and/or rehearsal dinners.

Medium weight trousers and skirts in tropical wool, polyester blends,
gabardine, etc. that can be worn all year long.

special night out.

 Tips
I need a COLD SHOWER!
I know you are going to think I am crazy, but I just read where taking cold
showers can actually help you live longer and look more youthful!
 The theory is that a cold shower maximizes your
blood flow because the body goes into over-drive to try and warm itself. The
rush of blood stimulates your organs and joints; it helps keep you limber and
gives a youthful flush to your skin. Drinking ice water rather than tepid water
works similarly... Your body burns more calories trying to maintain its
temperature.
So the next time your water heater goes out, think of that cold shower as a
fountain of youth!
You Have to Try...
 Dryel – Fabric Care in Your Dryer?
Winter dry cleaning bills can be much larger than spring and summer because of
coats and heavier structured garments. I had heard about Dryel, but was
skeptical. I plunked down my $11 bucks and thought I would give it a try. Oh my
gosh, I love it! I was able to refresh my winter coats, quilts and damask
comforter with just the starter kit. I figure I saved at least $40 bucks!
(Yippee!)
