Poll
When it comes to a swimsuit, I look for one that...
Once again, the tummies have it! It seems the number one camouflaging issue for
women is the tummy and we need our swimsuit to help de-emphasize our pooch!! Your
votes prove that minimizing our tummies takes precedence over accentuating or
minimizing any other body part almost three to one!
Each year fabric technology and creative designers bring us new, strategic swimsuits
that help us battle the visual bulge at the beach. This year is no exception with
the development of Slendertex® fabric from Lands' End, Miratex® by Miracle Suit
and Tummy Thinner® technologies by Metrostyle. All of these innovative fabrics
will help hold in your stomach and create a beautiful hourglass shape.
For optimal belly quelling, choose a one piece suit with a shaper panel built in
for support. Look for suits with one of the latest slimming technologies and/or
one that contains a higher percentage of Lycra or spandex. One piece suits with
diagonal or chevron details at the waist will visually paint a slimmer picture and
rouching or gathering will also hide a multitude of sins! Vertical stripes and
one piece suits with side cut outs are also great for camouflaging a tummy while
highlighting your shape.
Additionally, choose a swimsuit with thicker straps set wide apart to give the
illusion of broad shoulders and smaller waist. This visual trick can be used
for your bottom half as well. Swimsuits with playful skirts or a wrap overlay
will create a slimming A-line effect and help promote a visual hourglass. Bold
patterns and color blocking are also great strategies for tricking the eye and
pulling focus away from your tum-tum!
If you are dead set on a two piece, choose a brief bottom with fuller coverage.
A bottom that smiles just a bit and hits just below your natural waist (around
your belly button), will bi-sect the tummy and help visually de-emphasize the area.
What you want to avoid is anything skimpy. LESS IS NOT MORE in this particular
area! Steer clear of horizontal stripes across the belly, 100% cotton suits and
anything with "string" in the title!
I know it's daunting, but you can absolutely find a fabulous swimsuit that builds
confidence, by following these guidelines! EVERYBODY has figure issues that they
would like to change, so you are not alone! No matter what, don't let this
season go by without enjoying the wonders of summer!
Sixth Cents - Layered Bangles and Bracelets
For the next few seasons you will notice a distinctive shift to the wrist!
Bracelets and bangles are back in a big way, and if you can handle the clank
and "bang" of layered bangles, stack 'em high for trendy flair!
A hip way to rock this trend is to layer colored bangles in opposing tones
of your outfit. If you are wearing cooler toned garments, wear bangles in
warm tones and vice versa!
Bangles are best when they make a statement. So stack them all on one arm
(to avoid the handcuff look) and keep the rest of your jewelry understated
with smaller earrings and no necklace!

Tips - Additional Swimsuit Tips
Before you head out shopping, keep these things in mind:
- If you schedule, yes schedule, the shopping trip on a weekday morning, you
will have fewer eyes in the dressing room and more sales help to assist you.
- If you apply a self-tanner the night before, you will lessen the shock of
a ghostly glow and be more apt to like what you see in the mirror.
- If you wear a thong, or at least small bikini panties you will get a better
idea of what your swim suit will look like, since you have to try it on over your undies.
- Don't go shopping with clunky shoes on! Shopping with sandals or flip-flops
on will help you better visualize your smokin' hot self at the pool or beach!
Once you are at your favorite store, with nice sales people, good lighting and excellent
prices (I pray!), remember this:
- Even if you think you know your size, plan to take your size and one
size LARGER into the dressing room... then try the larger one on first. With
designer sizing being all over the board, you will feel much less deflated
if you have to go down a size versus going up.
- Choose your style of suit like you would your lingerie. If you know that
your bust line requires an underwire bra for support, then you need to choose
a bathing suit with an underwire. If your favorite foundation garments give
you the shape that you like best, look for a suit with built in support. And
when it comes to selecting a bathing suit bottom, mimics the style of undies
that you feel most confident in.
- Stay focused on the GOOD! If you have gorgeous eyes, choose a suit that
will pull focus to them, if you have beautiful skin, choose a color that will
flatter it, if you have a great bust line look for a suit that flatters "the girls",
if you have long legs choose a suit that highlights the enviable length. Com'on... we
all have GOOD stuff, so let's stay focused on that!
Now you are at the rack, take a deep breath... print out this cheat sheet
if you need to... but keep these tips in mind:
- Full Bust = halter tops with thicker straps and underwire are best. This
will help capture the full breast and offer the best lift.
- Small Bust = molded form cups, cups with a pocket for a silicone insert,
underwire cups and front closures offer the best bust enhancement. Bright colors
and bold patters also work wonders.
- Tummy Control = choose a one piece suit with a shaper panel built in for
support. (see poll results for more guidance)
- Larger Thighs = opt for a solid colored bottom and a bold printed top.
Choose a plunging top with thicker straps placed farther apart to create more
visual balance. You can also choose a skirted bottom but make sure that the
side edges of the skirt smile or turn up to create a longer leg line. A skirt
that goes straight across can highlight the size of the thighs.
- Choose a beautiful wrap or bandeau that matches your suit bottoms and
feels more glamorous. Avoid wearing oversized t-shirts, overalls, or men's
swim trunks. You will have more confidence and look better if you have a
swimming ensemble that you like.
- Bumps and Bulges = larger prints and darker color combinations.
- Boyish Shape = choose high cut or French cut legs on your bottoms and
enhancing plunging halters to create more shape.
- Flat Bottom = choose a suit with a lift panel to round out your shape a'la JLo.
You can do this! Set your intention to find a fabulous swimsuit that you love
and that looks great on you and don't stop until you do! Try on all types of
suits that follow your body shape guidelines, in many colors and patterns because
swimsuits never have hanger appeal! You never know what enhancing properties a
swimsuit has in store for you until you try it on! Good luck... I'll see you at the beach!
Have You Tried...
Melaleuca Oil (Tea Tree Oil)?
FREE TRIAL SIZE OF MELALEUCA OIL TO THE FIRST 100 RESPONDERS!!!
I have long been a proponent of Tea Tree Oil for blemishes, especially for
ladies over 30. You see, the standard remedy for zits, benzyl peroxide, is
far to harsh on mature skin and usually leaves a red dry patch that takes
twice as long to get rid of than the original zit.
Tea Tree oil is firstly, an oil, but additionally it's a natural antiseptic
that kills the germ of a blemish and won't leave you with an unsightly dry
patch. I have used it for years and recommend it to all of my clients!
Just recently, I was introduced to Melaleuca Oil, a highly concentrated version
of Tea Tree Oil and I absolutely love it! The potent Melaleuca Oil penetrates
far below top layers of skin, soothing and disinfecting without any harsh
effects. It really is the best I have ever tried.
My excited response to the Melaleuca Oil prompted a distributor (Candy Kuebel)
to offer free trial size bottles of this fabulous remedy to the first 100
responders to this E-nnouncement!!! Simply email Candy at Success_Wellness@yahoo.com
and include your name, shipping address, phone number, and the reference
"Andy sent me" and Candy will ship you a free .02 oz bottle!
The Melaleuca Oil is $16 (1oz.) or $9.50 (1/2oz.) plus $2.50 shipping and handling
and worth every cent. It's a beauty MUST-HAVE!
