Dear Friend,
 On A Personal Note...
Happy June! I hope you are enjoying the sunshine and bathing in the social
bliss of family and friends. I am actually at the beach as I write this, so I
am thinking of you and wishin' you were here at the Jersey Shore!
I have slathered my face with my
favorite sun block for sensitive skin, Eucerin Extra Protective SPF 30 and
David (sweet hubby) has hosed me down with Banana Boat's Quick Dry Sport Sun
Block Spray SPF 30. I love the ease and convenience of the spray. I do wish
however, that sunscreens smelled as good as the suntan oil I used when I was
young and foolish about the sun. But I guess if I ache for that beach smell,
I'll just order a pina colada! (yoohoo... cute cabana boy!)
I'm about to pick up my
absolute favorite new book, but before I tell you about it, (I am so excited to
share because I know you are going to love it!) you should know that it's a
"Girl Thing" and it has totally transformed the way I plan my life. 28 Days - What Your Cycle Reveals about Your Love Life, Moods and Potential
(A Daily Horoscope of Your Hormones) by Gabrielle Lichterman, is a
sidesplitting education and a make-your-honey-read-every-page validation of
your monthly mood-a-coaster ride.
I am not one to go on and on about books, (truth is, I'm a real periodical
kinda girl... I just devour magazines), but I get the biggest kick out of
reading how my daily hormonal cocktail will effect me and my actions. The book
reads just like a horoscope and it's so hilarious. There are
quite a few pages that I've dog-eared for David's enjoyment and fair warning! I
can't recommend the book enough! I just think the more info we have about how
our hormones affect us, the easier it is to get along with understanding and
levity.

On another note, if you've been thinking about a private consultation or
fabulous summer beautifying service for you, your daughters and your friends,
it's getting down to the wire. There are only a few booking days left in my
summer service calendar and I want to make sure I can visit you all! Click on
the following link and select "Private Consultation" as the subject
line.

I raise my pina colada to a wonderful summer!! Be happy! Be beautiful! Be

 Tips
A dip in the ocean will cure what ails ya! Don't go to the beach without
getting into the water before you leave. I admit I'm a little squeamish about
swimming with the fishies, but the salt water is very good for you. It cleanses
the skin and helps to minimize the likelihood of all kinds of infections, i.e.
ear, sinus and skin. Last one in is a rotten egg!!

Sale Rack
Well believe it or not, swimsuits have hit the sale rack! This might make you
like shopping for them a bit more... but I doubt it! I have a few tips that can
help when heading into that florescent lit, curtain drawn, self loathing abyss
known as the swimsuit fitting room.
Let's talk minimizing first...
-
BUST - If you are looking to minimize your bust keep in mind that a
swimsuit top with an underwire and high Lycra content will offer the most
support. A tankini (tank style top with bikini bottom) or a one piece tank
swimsuit that has a shelf bra are nice options because the tank style offers
the most coverage and draws attention away from the top half of the body.
-
BOTTOM - If you are looking to minimize your lower half, (i.e. hips and
thighs) swimsuit bottoms that sit lower on the hips are best. Flirty skirt
styles or board shorts that hit just below the navel and offer full bottom
coverage can show-off a nice tummy and highlight a feminine shape. Another
option is a one piece with a slightly higher cut leg. This silhouette can
create a slimming effect while offering great overall coverage. Keep in mind
that swimsuit tops with straps set further apart on the shoulders give the
illusion of a larger upper body and can work to balance a larger bottom.
-
TUMMY - How is that tummy? If you need a little control, choose suits
that have a higher percentage of Lycra. This will give you better overall
support. Look for one piece suits with rouching or gathering in the
mid-sections. The rouching hides a multitude of sins and fools the eye into
thinking that all of the gathers and folds are just fabric... and not gathers
and folds (wink). Vertical stripes and one piece suits with side cut-outs are
also great for camouflaging a tummy while highlighting your shape. If you are
dead set on a two piece, choose a brief bottom with fuller coverage. A bottom
that hits just below waist with that extra Lycra should do the trick.
Looking to maximize?
-
BUST - Try a halter style top or consider some of the great padded,
push-up and/or molded bra tops out there right now. Look for things that clasp
or tie in the front as this is a cleavage enhancing indicator.
-
BOTTOM - If you are contemplating a boy-short bikini, keep in mind,
these type bottoms tend to maximize the rump and widen the hips. This look is
great for spaghetti figures... fettuccini and rigatoni figures beware.
When looking for a cover-up, remember that a large feminine scarf tied at the
hip, sarong-style, is all you need. You probably have just the thing in your
closet right now! Don't ruin your swimwear look with sloppy men's shorts, baggy
overalls, cutoffs, bathrobes or shapeless oversized t-shirts! You are a woman!
Your half naked body and strategically selected swimsuit reflect that fact...
and you need to follow through with a feminine flattering cover up! Throw your
(pre-applied) sunscreen in a great colorful tote, leave chunky jewelry at home,
and remember a touch of lipstick or gloss is all you need to look gorgeous when
heading to the pool or beach!
Have You Tried...
Dove Rinse-Out Foam Conditioner for Fine Hair?
I actually purchased this, thinking it was a leave-in mousse... then, with a
big ol' pile of it on my wet head, I read that it was to be rinsed out. (Oops!)
Truth is, it made my hair shinier and more manageable. It wasn't greasy or
heavy at all. I've been using it as a leave-in conditioner ever since, and I
love it!
