On A Personal Note...

Boy is it hot! I hope you are finding ways to stay cool during these dog days of summer. This time of year most of us find it hard to pull together a polished look. It is just too hot for layers or fussy clothes.

In July and August I always streamline my clothes, opting for basic A-line skirts and simple cotton tops. I then let my accessories do the "style" talkin'. With trendy necklaces and beads all the rage, this simple addition can easily sew up a stylish look.

Think about mixing unexpected colors in your tops and bottoms and unifying the look with a chunky necklace that surprisingly works with both colors. Or maybe add wood accessories and brown sandals to a simple skirt and tee to "richen up" the look. You could also create a great pendant necklace from a simple, less flashy, old brooch by stringing it on a long leather shoestring. Add it to denim and a gauzy peasant top for a stylish earthy look.

These are the easy tricks that I employ as I pound the trendy hot pavement of NYC. Stay cool, and as always; Be happy! Be beautiful! Be thrifty!

Sale Rack

Tips

Finding the perfect concealer is one of the hardest cosmetic challenges there is! The color, the consistency, the coverage... ugghh... they all have to work together and fit like the last word in the Sunday NY Times crossword puzzle. Well, if you have already painstakingly found your perfect foundation, try using the aerated, thicker dollop of coverage found under the lid of your foundation bottle. This little collection of foundation can often offer just enough additional coverage to work as a quick, perfect-match concealer! (Woohoo!!)

Keep in mind; it is much easier to retrieve that dollop of cosmetic gold with a taklon concealer brush, like the one found in my Andy Paige Cosmetic Brush Set!
