Dear Friend,
 On A Personal Note...
Labor Day has just past and it's time to think about our fall wardrobes. I will
be conducting my bi-annual closet rotation this weekend... a ritual that's a
true pain in the whooha for all New York City dwellers who live in less than
500 square feet!
Every six months, at the beginning of April and September, I pull each garment
from my closet, ask myself a couple of crucial questions and decide whether I
want to PAY to house that garment at my storage space for the next half year.
Though this closet dissection sounds dreadful, I have learned to appreciate the
streamlined approach I am forced to take with my wardrobe.
The things that will lovingly be sent to storage are those items that fit me
great, work to create a feminine shape, things that I have actually worn in the
last six months and items that reflect who I am today... not yesterday! All
garments that do not fit into one of these categories get donated or sent to
consignment.
Once this is complete, I will reintroduce myself to my fall/winter wardrobe. I
confess it's my favorite, but I will also ask the same questions of this
garment group, even though I asked them just six months prior. The most
important question for these incoming duds is; does this reflect who I am
today?
From this point, I'll be able to create a strategic shopping list of all the
items that I need to further utilize and modernize the clothes that I already
own. This list will keep me on track while shopping throughout the season and
insure that I'm always working to spend my money wisely and optimize my
wardrobe on every level!
This process is a bit of effort, but the result is a wardrobe that I fully
employ to help build shape and tell the world that I have a great Cents of
Style!
