Dear Friend,

Personal Note On A Personal Note...

As many of you know, my friend and life coach Rhonda Britten inspired me to start running a couple of years ago. She and I successfully completed the LA marathon in 2006 and have gone on to run several more races.

Andy's Triathlon - Before the Race Start

This year, after not getting into the New York Marathon for the third time, my younger sisters (very much younger) convinced me to train for a triathlon. Swim! Bike! Run! And I did it! I did it! I did it! My goal was to complete the triathlon in under two hours and I successfully came in at 1:53:38!

Ocean Swim Start

The laughable parts were my transitions from event to event. While everyone else was dashing off with lightning speed out of the ocean and onto their bikes, I stopped to responsibly add a new coat of sunblock and top my wet arms with a pink UV protection shirt and cozy thermal vest.

I remembered to put on a little more deodorant, I washed my feet in a waiting bucket of water to get all of the sand off, and then I pulled on clean socks and bike shoes. I strapped on my i-pod and GPS monitor, sucked down a nutritious vanilla-flavored GU, glossed my lips, popped a few sticks of my favorite citrus gum and finished my bike look with a great turquoise bike helmet!

Transitioning in Style!

I can proudly say that I had the second-longest transition time between the swim and the bike of anyone in the entire race (longest went to my sister Elena... a glamour girl like me!) My transition between the 15-mile bike event and the 5K run was a little better, but I completed the race in great time, without a sunburn, stinky pits, dry mouth, blisters or rotten spirits!

Andy finishes the bike!

The point of all this is to remind you that I COULD NOT EVEN RUN 1 MILE a couple of years ago! Not even half a mile to be honest! We all have the power to succeed at things we never imagined, if we put our minds to it and stay committed. Whether our goals are to dress with more style and flair, take better care of our skin, go for that great hair cut we've been afraid to attempt, or run a local 5K for charity. You can do it! I believe in you! But remember whatever new things you attempt...do it with a great Cents of Style!

Crossing the Finish Line!

P.S. It's the time of year when we tend to spend the most money on our clothes and risk the most with our image and fashion dollars. Don't go it alone, book a life changing Beauty Boot Camp, Closet Evaluation or Strategic Day of Shopping so that you can optimize every dollar, learn how to dress your body and look better than you ever dreamed you could…all while spending less than you thought was possible!

RoC® Retinol Correxion® Hand Repair Have You Tried...

RoC® Retinol Correxion® Hand Repair?

As the air gets cooler and we find we need to wash our hands more due to cold and flu season, most of us will start to experience the dry cracking and flaking of winter hands. If you need to moisturize and treat your hands anyway, you might as well fight off the signs of aging and prevent future damage while you are at it!

Our hands are a true reflection of our age and an area that we forget needs sunscreen and protection. This cream is clinically shown to even out pigmentation, to dramatically reduce discolorations and age spots for more youthful looking hands. Plus, UVA/UVB sunscreen protects hands from damaging rays and helps prevent future signs of aging.

I can really see a difference in my mitts after using one tube. If you are concerned about aged hands, here is a solution for under $13 bucks! WooHoo!

And everybody loves a luxurious wrap!

The texture and layer-ability of this wrap is the right trend, right now. The wrap is a cold weather look that works on every body type and always appears glamorous and sophisticated. This chocolate brown wrap is the perfect autumn layer, as it offers warmth without a heavier jacket. It's also great for travel as you can keep warm on the plane or use it as a pillow (that's what I do!).

Additionally, this will beautifully top an evening ensemble or offer an extra layer of warm over your winter coat. This is not your standard light weight pashmina. This wrap is much more plush and substantial with plenty of fabric to gather and drape.

The real tiger-eye earrings are upscale and elegant. The stones are faceted and catch the light beautifully. These could easily be dressed up with a beautiful frock and an up-do or dressed down with jeans and sweater... and the light weight makes them perfect for everybody.

This suite makes a fabulous gift and is the perfect autumn fashion pick-me-up! I know you are going to love it!

Sale Rack

Entertaining is in the air, and retailers know that events are being planned and nesting is underway. As a result, you'll find great bargains and great selections on home goods, housewares and culinary supplies. The stores always over-stock, so if your big shin-dig is in December, hold off ‘til after Thanksgiving, when you will find even greater savings.

If you are in need of a new coat or any type of outerwear this year, you are sure to find coupon deals in the Sunday paper and/or extra-savings days at your local department store. Though the best bargains on coats are found in January, many retailers offer fall sales on outerwear to lure you in. Be sure to ask the cashier if the store has additional “friends and family” discounts or other unannounced secret discounts available before you check out.

The store may also have an upcoming sale, whereby you can return to the store with your receipt to receive the extra savings, so be sure to inquire about that as well. Most national department stores will allow you to retroactively receive the discounted price for up to two weeks, so it can't hurt to keep an eye out for falling prices and the receipt in your purse!

Also, lots of new products are launched each fall as students return to class and households resume a regular routine of TV viewing and periodical reading. Advertisers simply get more bang for the buck in the autumn months. Many new products are offered at introductory pricing, which can mean huge savings for consumers. Keep your eyes peeled for deep discounts on all sorts of new items... and if you like 'em, stock up!

Halloween Costumes Tips

If you are in need of a fabulous, thrifty Halloween costume, I stumbled across some great costume sites while searching for Halloween get-up this year. I found great costumes for all ages on clearance at www.buycostumes.com, some as much as 90% OFF (Yippee!) and most around $20 bucks or less.

I also clicked around www.coolest-homemade-costumes.com and found some fabulous ideas for costumes you can pull right out of your closet. The one thing about this site is you need to scroll down past the advertising to get to the information, so don't be swayed by the opening screen. There is lots of great info here, it's just at the bottom of the web page! (wink!)
