Tips
Thrifty High-Pigment Eye Shadow
The hottest trend in cosmetics is high–pigment eye shadow! Dramatic eye shadow in concentrated, vibrant
colors – bucking the natural trend of years past – sets eyes ablaze with razzle and a bit of dazzle.
These high–wattage shadows can be really pricey, especially if you buy the individual pots. But don't worry,
that's why you can depend on me. Here is how you can get the same vivid, high–pigment colors without having
to spend this week's gas money.
Beautiful African–American skin needs stronger, richer, more concentrated colors to create naturally emphasized
eyes. Eye shadows specifically developed for African–American skin have higher pigment content and offer more
vibrant color and staying power on lighter skin tones. Many drugstore brands made specifically for African–American
women, like Posner, Black Opal, Milani, Iman and Black Radiance, offer incredible products that will create dramatic
results at a fraction of the price of department store brands.
So the next time you are looking to "dramatify" your peepers, check out the inexpensive eye shadows made for
your dark and lovely sisters. You'll be amazed at the bang you'll get for your eye shadow buck!

Sleek Turtlenecks Showcase Your Shell!
The sleek effect of a body skimming turtleneck has taken fashion precedence this season. This high neck
style is strategically used to showcase the cut, design and color of a garment or layered garments.
This elongating style, slims your silhouette under more voluminous pieces, serves as a structural device
creating modern color blocks and makes today's gorgeous jewel tones pop with vibrancy.
Avoid thicker, loose fitting turtlenecks and opt for a fitted, thinner weight that can easily be layered
without adding bulk. If you have a shorter neck, choose darker colors and wear the turtleneck rolled up
and rouched, not folded down. This adjustment will make your neck appear longer and offer a fresh look
for these classic style makers.

This Month's Cents Of Style® Accessory Suite
CHARMED GLAMOUR
If you've been holding out for the perfect glamorizing Accessory Suite, your wait is over.
CHARMED
GLAMOUR is an incredible collection of modern
accessories that keep an eye on timeless style. This
is a suite that will look amazing on thrifty divas of
all ages, like my mom (sexy 60 and petite) and my younger
sister (creative 18 and statuesque). This style–boost–in–a–box
is exactly what every woman needs to instantly send
a visual message of fresh sophistication and creative
courage.
The faux pony hide leopard hobo bag is contemporary
perfection. The bag is soft and slouchy, so it will
look great whether you are simply carrying your lipstick
and wallet or the kitchen sink! The faux hide looks
and feels rich, and the black patent and gold–tone details
elevate the bag, making it look elegant and smart.
Everyone needs a black wrap, and this one is thin enough
to double as a luxurious oversized scarf. The five hammered
gold charm bangles are current and fun... and the gold
bar dangle earrings make a strong stylish statement.
I know you are going to love it!
This suite is an incredible holiday gift for any woman,
and we will gladly gift–wrap your order to make things
super easy for you. As always, thank you for supporting
Cents of Style!

What Fall Trends Are You Most Excited About?
All hail the return of the wide legged trouser! This
fall, after several seasons of impossibly skinny legged
pants and super low rises, designers have finally surrendered
and given us beautiful flattering trousers with wider
legs and rises that hit our belly buttons. Nearly 20%
of those polled responded that this is the trend you are
most excited about.
But the majority, 24% of centsofstyle.com readers, say
that the use of vibrant jewel tones gets your fashion
juices flowing. If you are a fan of wearing rich, beautiful
color – and I hope you all are – this is the time to go
shopping! Jackets and second layers in gorgeous, deep
hues are hanging like grapes in stores everywhere, and
in a few weeks, they will be hitting sale racks.
The great thrifty chic twist to this trend is that the
richer the color, the more expensive a garment looks.
So all the super bargain boutiques are awash with rich
colors that naturally make their budget garments look
deceptively pricey... WooHoo!
This fall has also proven to offer more knits and sweaters
than we have seen since the 80's. Sweater dresses, sweater
coats, nubby cardigans, leg warmers and shawls are all
a result of designers' collective knit parade at the fall fashion shows.
Look for many of this season's knits in gray, as this is the hot, not–quite–black hue this season;
and some of those knits will come with puffy sleeves.
Very few of you voted puffy sleeves as a trend that you were excited about. I expect that visions of Alexis
Carrington circa 1983 are still dancing in your head, but truthfully, a small gathered/puffed sleeve can
help balance a larger bottom and offer feminine detailing. So don't be afraid of the resurgence of this style.
There is no doubt that fashion has taken a bit of a distorted
twist this season, as poufs, gathers, swing coats and
volume have us drowning in the latest designer duds. This
is tough fashion terrain to navigate for anyone over 100
lbs., so keep your focus on a feminine hourglass silhouette,
and don't be a slave to seasonal designer dish. There
are lots of new things out there that will help you feel
fresh and modern, without disfiguring your girlish shape!
You can do it!
Have You Tried...
JANE Blushing Cheeks Powder Blush in BLUSHING PETAL?
If you've been looking for a great new blush, I've got just the one! I recently read a great review of
JANE blushes and after trying them I can see what the buzz is about. I super love the BLUSHING PETAL.
It offers a beautiful rosy, light plum, peachy glow that radiates like naturally flushed cheeks.
The JANE blushes are high–pigment, so a little dab will do ya, but the color goes on smoothly and lasts
all day. Don't be fooled by the lack luster hue in the little pots. Once you apply them, they really
come alive on your skin. Best of all... these little blush pots are under $4 bucks! Love it!
